JMF Properties President, Joe Forgione, wanted to give back to the disabled in the community through this philanthropic venture known as the Arc Home. Arc Home is the fifth group home financed and built by JMF Properties for Arc/Morris. Our company and dedicated staff were happy to help Arc/Morris with this project because another group home means another extension of services to residents in need.
Arc Home is a 4,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art, fully handicapped accessible facility located on Horse Hill Road in Hanover Twp., Morris County, N.J. Fresh ground was broken once again as JMF Properties received our Certificate of Occupancy for the Arc/Morris facility. This group home caters to the ongoing needs of intellectually or developmentally disabled residents and their families – something JMF Properties is wholeheartedly passionate about.
Before even digging in, JMF Properties has to visualize each project and believe in our project’s ability to make a positive impact on its community. Any project we partake in must add community value. The Arc Home project was a perfect match because the facility was constructed to house, support, and improve the quality of life for intellectually or developmentally disabled community members. This philanthropic venture is a reflection of our commitment to everyone in the community.
Arc/Morris is one chapter out of twenty county chapters operating under The Arc of New Jersey. Moreover, Arc/Morris is the largest provider of services for people living with intellectual or developmental disabilities in Morris County. However, Arc/Morris also extends their services to those residing in the following five surrounding counties – Sussex, Warren, Bergen, Passaic and Hudson.
Although this particular property is the fifth Arc/Morris group home built in Hanover Twp., it’s still the first Arc/Morris group home in Hanover Twp. constructed as a “respite” group home. A respite group home is different from traditional group homes primarily because the property is designed for temporary stays as opposed to long-term living. The typical stay for a resident living at a respite group home usually ranges anywhere from a few days to a few months.
Arc Home was created as a respite group home for a few reasons. Often for the first time in their lives, parents of adult children with intellectual or developmental disabilities can finally take time to themselves by dropping off their adult children for a temporary and trusted stay. Most parents never find time to get out on their own because their adult children need 24-hour care and supervision.
Arc Home was also created for crisis situations. Sometimes intellectually or developmentally individuals have nowhere to go when their parents pass way. Other times, the Arc might find these individuals abandoned in the streets or living unnoticed amongst homeless shelters. The new Arc/Morris respite group home in Hanover Twp. has replaced another respite group home that used to be located in Chatham.
